About Us

Our goal at Call of the Wild Lodge is to provide a peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating destination for business people and long or short term holiday makers. We care about people’s positive experiences and every effort is made to make guests feel welcome, at home and special.

Sue and Deon relocated from Cape Town in mid 2018 and have many years’ experience in running a guest house as they continue to own another in Cape Town. Keeping it in the family, this is now run by Sue’s son Dan.

Call of the Wild Lodge is the culmination of a dream: to co-habit with animals and birds and run a fine guest house. The Wildlife Estate has provided them with this opportunity of both an ideal location and a beautiful home. The call of the wild has been answered by the creation of this Lodge.

Sue is extremely passionate about animals, birds and wildlife conservation. Having spent her childhood holidays on a farm in the Klaserie, she developed her knowledge of the bush from these years. Continuing education sees her studying to become a fully qualified guide.  Deon has worked in Africa for many years and is happy to be in one place and running the lodge. A keen cyclist, golfer and runner Hoedspruit is the perfect place to lay down roots.

Guests are well looked after by the amazing staff. Tiyani has an incredible talent in creating mouth-watering breakfasts as well as artistic room decor. If guests book three or more nights,  they will be treated to a special “bush” turn down of the linen, which is her way of thanking you for staying. If there is a special occasion, she’ll stun you with an even more imaginative “turn down.” She is kind-hearted and gentle and strives for perfection in all that she does.

Never is a young, fun-loving individual who has fitted into daily life at the lodge extremely well. Always with a smile on his face, nothing is too much trouble for him. He maintains the grounds with pride and care and helps out wherever needed. He is studying to be a field guide and has his drivers license.
